AWMA WRITING COMPETITION
Terms and Conditions
1. Open to all writers.
2. Emailed entries only.
3. It must be the original work of the entrant. No AI!
4. The entry must be unpublished. If it has been published elsewhere (in print or online), or won in another competition, then it is not eligible
5. We reserve the right to publish entries.
6. Winning entrants may be asked to provide a photo for publication. (This is not compulsory but will be appreciated!)
7. Open for entries from February 1st, 2025. The closing date is 12pm, May 31st, 2025 (AEST).
8. Write either fiction or non-fiction with a martial arts theme. It could be a story featuring martial arts or you could write an essay about an aspect of training. Or a piece about what martial arts means to you. Whatever you like, as long as martial arts are a central part and you treat it with respect.
9. Categories:
LOCAL AWARD
One prize across all entrants: 6 x weeks free classes with Albury Wodonga Martial Arts The winner of this award, or a person that the winner elects, must be able to attend classes in either Wodonga or Beechworth. The same person must attend all classes.
10. Entry fees and prize values are in AUD.
11. Proceeds after entry fees and expenses will be donated to Yes Unlimited. Initially, 50% of entry fees will be donated until prizes and expenses are met. Once these costs are covered then 100% of the balance will be donated.
12. Payment must be confirmed before the entry is accepted.
13. Age is based on your age at date competition closes.
14. Entries must be principally written in English (other languages are acceptable when referring to specific techniques etc).
15. Entries are to be typed in clear font and double spaced. 11 or 12pt is preferred.
16. Ensure the name of your submission and word count are at the top of the document.
17. Do NOT include your own name or any other identification details on the submission itself. This is so the entries may be judged anonymously.
18. Send your entries as a Microsoft Word document (.doc or docx).
19. The judges’ decisions are final and no correspondence will be entered into.
