PUBLISHERS ACCEPTING (Mostly) ALL YEAR ROUND

PUBLISHERS WITH A WINDOW

What do I mean by ...

Not mentioned

There is not enough information on the website for me to give an answer in this category.

Fee Paid to You: None

But mostly publishers will supply you with a free copy of the issue or book

Per Contract

That the publisher will offer you a contract if you are successful.
You will need to evaluate the contract to see if it is fair and fits with industry norms.

Size: Words

If there is a range then generally the submission should fall between the upper and lower figures
If there is only one figure then generally the submission should be no longer than that figure
If there is nothing listed then the publisher hasn't specified a length on their website

Window

This means there is a limited time in which the publisher will accept submissions ie a window of opportunity

Notes on Publishers and this page

If you have a suggestion, want to submit an entry for these pages or find a broken link, please contact me.
awr@australis.net

ALWAYS read the submission guidelines carefully. There is no real standard format so check you have followed the publisher's request carefully.
You want them to like your submission, not get annoyed.

I have tried to pick up where there might be an implied cost of submission.
eg. If its only open to subscribers then the cost to you is a subscription
eg2. A publisher may give preference to potential authors if they have shown good intent and tried to find out more about the books they publish
…. By buying a special pack of books and information

Some publishers require that you contact them with a proposal BEFORE sending your manuscript.

I haven't included publishers that ONLY accept via a literary agent. If you decide to get a literary agent then you don't need my list.

Read about scams and be aware they do exist.
